Hi Art & Nancy -- Sorry for taking so long to sign your guest book, but
better late than never! We really enjoyed meeting and talking with you
in the Salt Lake City KOA as did our social fur child "Spunky". Happy to
report that we arrived home in Myrtle Beach, SC on October 19 after our
long journey west. One of our most interesting days after leaving SLC
was the drive from Cortez, CO to the Great Sand Dunes. The significantly
colder and wetter weather resulted in our encountering several inches of
snow along the road as we traveled through several mountain passes at
above 10,000 feet. We found a pullout to stop and let our young Spunky
have his first experience with the "white stuff". At first he didn't
quite know what to think, then decided he really liked it. He than ran
and jumped as far as his leash would take him! What fun! Please let us
know if your future travels bring you to the East and South Carolina.
Our contact details are: John & Shirley Minnigh 616 Buck Trail Longs, SC
29568 Phone: 843-399-1408 Hope you arrived back in California safe and
sound. Best regards, John, Shirley, Gussie and Spunky Minnigh

We met you at Cedarville RV Park in Cedarville Michigan on September
13th. We only got to talk for a little while before we pulled out. We
had the cream colored Country Coach. We really enjoyed our conversation
with both of you. Sure wish we had met you early so we could have
visited more with you. Would love to hear about your travels up in
Maritime area, as this is one area we have not been to, as of yet.
Hopefully one day we will cross paths again with you again. Your WEB

at the office. Thanks, it worked fine. We're now at the Whidden
Campground at Antigonish and it has a campwide wi-fi system: first such
that we have seen in Canada. You website is fantastic; really
professional. I have enjoyed perusing through it. It's very

Hello, Mr. Knapp. I read with interest your article about gaining some
tax benefits from an RV as a second home. My wife & I, new to RVing
(will take delivery of a new Tioga within a couple weeks), do not own a
primary residence. We live in Lompoc, where homes are $400k+, as you
know. (My $63,000 salary is a bit sparse for that range.) Are there any
tax advantages we can use? I'm aware of the advantages if we rent out
the RV. Thanks much. I look forward to hearing from you. Can't wait to
get out on the road! Our 1st long trip will be to New England--a
Christian camp. God's blessings to you, Bob

Hi
Art: Thanks so much for putting this info together. We are about to embark
on our FIRST cold(er) weather trip from our home here in Mobile, Alabama to
Greensboro, N.C. The "winter" tips will be used by yours truly- - - even
though the severity of the weather in N.C. will not compare to what ya'll
have experienced. We just purchased(in Aprip 2003) a new NEWMAR KOUNTRY STAR
diesel pusher @ 40ft. I am quite sure that it has enough "modern" amenities
that I really shouldn't worry about a weather scenario that is 43 degrees
high and 21 degrees low- - - what do you think? I will be keeping the
hoses(all) inboard and setting the thermostat on 60 degrees for the
interior. We both don't need a LOT of heat to be comfortable. Thanks again
for your site. Keep up the good work! VR, George

Love
your website, My wife and I want to buy a 40 ft motor home and travel
fulltime in about 3 years, I enjoyed your article about taxation(very
informative) and the fulltiming budget is something I have been trying to
get someone to tell me for some time. I've had answerers from $100-$200
dollars per day to some days more some days less depending on if your moving
or setting still. still don't know what state to home base in, Nevada looks
good for no sales, or income tax, I don't know, but have heard a lot of
folks use Texas, or Oregon, or Tennessee. but they are so far from
California, where we now live, and where most of the kids are. also have
Family in Minnesota, and grandkids in Michigan. Do you have any more info on
where offers the greatest advantages? Chuck & Marge ps: we did have a 23foot
travel trailer for a few years, a few years ago, so we're not complete

storage (no electric service either). I'm in the Chicago area, and this time
of year (Oct) it can get down to 29 or so degrees during the night ... but
warm up to about 60 degrees during the day. (I will be taking my coach to
the southern US in about 10 days so I don't want to winterize it right now
if I can avoid the hassle.) I've been told by the RV storage company where
my coach is stored (Outdoors, UN-winterized and with no artificial heat
supply) that I do NOT need to Winterize it before I head south. They say the
holding tanks and pipes (including the small water pipe feeding the
referigerator's ice maker) WILL NOT FREEZE until we get to a below freezing
period of about 3 days. (They did mention that the Water Heater is the most
vunerable ... so I drained it as a precaution.) They're so sure of this!
They even say this was published within the last year in an article in
either "Trailer Life" or "MotorHome" magazine. I've tried to find such an
article (internet searching) but have had no success. Do you agree with this
assessment of NO DANGER OF FREEZING UP?

We
recently purchased a fifth wheel. We plan to live in it over the winter. We
live in Canada, and the weather can be really cold. Everyone thinks we're
nuts. We stumbled across your web-site and we're really impressed with all
the helpful information about living in your RV over the winter. Thanks so
much. If we start to freeze guess we will just have to head south. Thanks

I
would really appreciate an answer to this email as we are moving to Santa
Barbara in about 20 days and need a place to store the RV. Our home is up a
very narrow road and the RV cannot get to the house. We are two ladies who
have been travelling in our RV for over 3 years and love it. We have a home
base in Portland, Or. and will soon be in SB also for part of the time. Have
two children ages 34 and 31 and two grandkids ages 7 and 10. We really need
to have a place to store the RV so would love to hear from you asap. Thanks

Enjoyed your site. I retired a year ago from one of the top five
Pharmaceutical companies. I am now back working full-time in a completely
different industry. We have a 13 yeqar old granddaughter we adopted when she
was 2. After retiring and selling everything we took off for California
where our son lives. We were there for about 6 months, during that time our
granddaughter went to school, but she missed her friends back home in
Indiana. So we moved back after Christmas last year and bought a house, new
furniture and a truck for me. I sure would like to get back on the road! We
will wait until our Granddaughter gradutes from High School and we can get
her in college, then we will hit the road like we intended to do last year.
I will keep coming to your site for more updates. Thanks Charley

Hi,
We just bought a 1988 Southwind 33 footer with 43,000 miles on it and am
already having a problem with it. I don't think that the two switches above
the exit door that are supposed to be the main switches for turning on and
off the main power for the engine and the coach are workking correctly. I
think you are supposed to actually hear them click on and off when the
switches are used, but in any event the motor still starts with the switched
turned off. If anyone who reads this and can give me any advice as toi what
I should do, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards, Allen

website with great information. When you sanitize your water system and fill

How many times can you refill or what is the period of time the water tank
remains sanitized? We are new to RVing and always have carried gallons of
purchased water for drinking, cooking and beverages. Thanks for sharing.

winterizing a RV. We live in Valdez, AK and just purchased a new Travel

excellent investment! Your site has given more information (the taxation

Loved
the info your site! My wife and I bought a motorhome a couple of years ago
so our dog could travel with us and not bother relatives. We had no idea
that we were entering another lifestyle!! :) I am hooked and the closer I
get to retirement age the more I think of fulltiming. My wife is 15 years
younger than I so I really think it is funny when I hear HER say she is
almost ready to start fulltiming. Your section on fulltiming certainly shows
that you will not be living any cheaper on the road than you do at home,
well if you are going to enjoy the travels. :) Thanks again for the site. I
have bookmarked it for future reference.

Hi
Folks, Art, I didn't know you lived in Santa Barbara. I live in a suburb of
Minneapolis now but grew up in Oxnard, CA. I use to spend a lot of time in
Santa Barbara. I used to spend a lot of time at the Earl Warren Showgrounds
watching Jimi Hendrix and the Doors. Oh those 60's. Another interesting
tidbit is that jazz pianist Dave Brubeck;s brother was the band director at
San Marcos high school. Every year Dave Brubeck played a concert there to
raise funds for uniforms etc. I was a drummer at the time so I had the
opportunity to help Joe Morello (know is the best drummer in the world at
that time) set up and tear down his drums. Those were great times. Maybe we
will se you one the road some time. God Bless and Pleasant Journeys, Dave

I
very much enjoyed wondering through your website and have found a lot of
useful and interesting information. I have recently been thrown (?) into
retirement after 31 years with the same company. I have a small pension and
earning a little money by capitalizing on a hobby of about 20 years. We've
rented motor homes several times in the past 5 or so years and now are
looking forward to bringing some fantasies true by full time RVing for
awhile. We've sold our home of 20 years and will use some of the proceeds to
buy a motor home. Feels a bit scary and very overwhelming - but we are
determined (right now anyway 8-) ). Websites like yours have helped answer
many questions - though I still have some basic motor home "how to" purchase
kind of questions that I'm trying to dig out from "the web's" various RV
forums, etc. Buying an RV is definitely different than buying a house or an
automobile! Thanks again for all the helpful and interesting information on
your web site! Gene & Bobbi (Soon to be full time RVers)

Hi
Art .......... Happy to have found your site once again. Sure miss the
original site that was Brian's school project. There were always a lot of
good people that added to the fun. Do you ever hear from Monarch? Her
adventures were always an interesting read. Our usual every-other-year trip
to the western states has been put on hold due to the uncertain outlook on
gas prices. Ours here in Ohio have been in the $1.70 neighborhood, so I
imagine the prices out there are really disturbing. Have decided on a couple
